This month long celebration of all things 2 wheeled always excites me. I can't wait to wake up early for Bike to Work Day and ride around to energizer stations, sipping coffee & waving to other cyclists. I'm also happy to have my own little display in a special bike themed section in Rock Paper Scissors.
In order to celebrate this month with all of you lovelies, I'm hosting my first official blog GIVEAWAY!
I will be giving away this wonderful cycling cap by Simply Scraps
This cap is made with salvaged clothing and includes an elastic band on the back to ensure a snug fit.
The hat fits a head roughly 20-21 inches and is handmade is Seattle.
I love the pattern of the fabric and the bill on this hat is the perfect size in my opinion.

Lets see this month May 1st rode the Long Beach Tour De Cure 100 mile century raised $345 personally and our team raised a little over $21,000 for ADA.
ReplyDeleteI have been commuting the last 5 years everyday 5 days a week, it save gas and an effort to do my part to make my carbon foot print smaller for my grandkids, I wish everyone who rode a bike would ride even one day to work if possible, it would make a difference even if you think one day has no effect it will.
Plans for bike month? Same as every other month: ride, ride, ride. I plan on commuting every day rain or shine, club rides after work during the week and as many long rides in on the weekends as I can fit in. Boston has a few cool bike related events including "ride to work days" (free breakfast anyone?) and bike festivals that I'll be attending too.
ReplyDeleteThis is all new to me. I've never rode bikes (with a passion) until yesterday. But this has been a year of firsts for me (beat cancer, changing careers, planning a move west). I've always been active, but due to a recent knee injury that required surgery, running is now out of the question. I fell in love with the soothing rhythm of pedaling this winter in physical therapy which I completed last week. So yesterday, armed with my new jones I marched into our local grass roots bike shop and rode about 20 bikes of all styles and shapes. I ended up buying a very simple one speed bike that spoke to me because of it's purity of purpose, which incidentally I realized this morning, works as a perfect metaphor for me in this new chapter of my life. So what does that have to do with bike month and the super cool hat your kindly offering up? Well, as May will be my first month with my new bike, and my new love of bikes it seemed fitting and I promise to pass on this new love I have to people in this very bike unfriendly midwest city. But truth be told, the real reason is: I have a head of hair that after 40 years of good service has finally begun to call it quits and that hat is SO stinking cool.
ReplyDeleteFor me, summer class starts in July, and I'll be biking that 5 times a week. 22 miles round trip, hopefully I get some beastly legs.
ReplyDeleteAnd if all goes well, more biking to school next semester as well.
So far in may I have lead a ride on the atlanta beltline, taken my boys to the Brownwood bike rally in the village of east atlanta, am leading a post-rapture ride to stone mountain tomorrow, made up a funny blog entry about an atlanta cyclist being taken up by the rapture (went viral) and I would really, truly love to finish the month up with a blog post about a really swank hand-made cycling cap! :)
