Phases of the Moon

I've been in a very moon mood lately. Moons have been popping up everywhere and links with other moon ladies have been forming.

The moon in general is a symbol for change: new beginnings, new life, and rejuvenation. It's a very exciting time.

Art has been imitating life for me with some of my latest earring & necklace designs. You can find these new designs in my etsy shop right now. With more to come.

Catching the eye of some environmentally conscious sites

"Girl on Bike" has recently been featured on two different environmentally conscious websites and I couldn't be happier. It's nice to have my work validated by others with the same goals in mind.

Getting Crafty in the East Bay - A place to make, sell, and mingle

Yesterday I dropped off some earrings at a small collective boutique in uptown Oakland called:

If you haven't stopped in yet, DO! This place is a great example of how a collective business can be successfully run and can provide the community with some amazing resources.

These guys/gals are not only a boutique featuring local designers, they also offer up an Arts lab space to come and create which includes a sewing machine and supplies. RPS hosts events and community classes. They have a gallery space with different artists monthly and are a major participator in Oakland's Art Murmur. They even have a zine library and youth programs.

My personal favorite thing about RPS? Their bike advocacy and friendliness of course!
March 22nd, 6-9pm they will be hosting a "Mess with Bikes" workshop where you can bring your bike down and get help fixing it. The workshop is run by donations so just give what you can and be on your merry way once your bike is rolling again.

The Gallery the entire month of May will be dedicated to Bicycles!!!
"BEYOND BICYCLES will be an exhibition documenting the many ingenious uses of human power past and present. Our month long exhibition will consist of a collection large color photographs of works, accompanied by a printed zine. There will also be a web zine which will be more extensive than the printed version."
I'll get more info on the show up a bit later.

Go check out their website for more info and pictures on the greatness that is RPSC
http://rpscollective.com/

While you are visiting RPSC make sure to look for my earrings amongst all the other amazing locally handmade goods.

Actual Cafe Earring Display Pictures

I headed over to Actual Cafe yesterday to restock my fast selling earrings. While there I snapped a few pictures of the display I made, and the current stock.
I used a bicycle brake cable as the wire to hang the earrings from, drilling holes in the side of the display. The ends of the wire are capped with brake cable caps.

Girl on Bike earrings now carried at Actual Cafe in Oakland

That's right! Another fine establishment is carrying my recycled bike tube earrings. This time you can find them in the East Bay.

Actual Cafe is a brand spankin new cafe in North Oakland. They are bike friendly with indoor bike parking, and offer an array of tasty treats that leave me salivating every time I go in.

Stop in next time you are in the area and take a peek at my ever changing selection of earrings while loading up on some joe.
