Todays Garden Project: Cinder Block Succulent Planter

Spent a couple hours today and yesterday designing, building, arranging and planting this cinder block succulent planter. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. It should fill in nicely.

  2. Oooh, I love it!! Plantings in cinder blocks make me happy for some reason! We made our raised beds out of them & then did a mosaics (http://growandresist.com/2010/03/04/whimsical-raised-beds-make-them-now/)
I love the idea of growing succulents in them and think I'll try that. In the past I have done marigolds and nasturtiums, but the marigolds dried out and the nasturtiums grew too wild. Succulents would be perfect!
I like how you stacked them!

  6. What kind of things have you grown in here? On Pinterest it says it might be good for peppers. Any experience with that? I'd love to set up an awesome display like this and grow some bell peppers and maybe some hot peppers, too!

  7. Fantastic . . . love the idea of having a wall full of succulents. Question: I see that most are still in plastic(?) pots. What did you do to keep the pots elevated at a proper level. Did you plant some of the "holes" without pots? If so, what did you do to keep the planting mix from leaking out the bottom of the hole?
